European Parliament Schuman Traineeships 2027 (Paid)
Updated 27 October 2026
Closes in 4 days
The European Parliament offers paid Robert Schuman Traineeships to university graduates who want hands-on experience in European politics and law-making. Trainees work in the Parliament's offices, mainly in Brussels and Luxembourg, and see how the EU works from the inside.
The next traineeship runs from 1 March to 31 July 2027.
What trainees receive
- A monthly grant for the five months of the traineeship (the amount is set by the European Parliament and published on its traineeship website)
- Real work experience in a European Parliament directorate or office
- Training, networking and a certificate at the end
Who can apply
- At least 18 years old on the start date
- A completed university degree of at least three years (bachelor's or equivalent) by the application deadline. Unfinished studies do not count, even if you graduate soon after.
- Languages: thorough knowledge of one official EU language and very good knowledge of a second. Non-EU citizens need very good knowledge of English, French or German.
- You must not have done a traineeship or paid work of more than two months at an EU institution, body or agency in the six months before the start date.
- A clean criminal record
Nationality
- Places are mainly for nationals of EU member states and of candidate or accession countries.
- About 10% of places may go to nationals of other countries, so applicants from Africa, Asia and the Americas can apply, but competition is very strong.
- Selected non-EU trainees must hold a valid Schengen visa for the whole traineeship. Visa costs are not reimbursed.
