HENNGE Global Internship Program in Tokyo Japan

Updated 13 October 2026

HENNGE, a Tokyo-based cloud security company, runs the HENNGE Global Internship Program (GIP), a hands-on software engineering internship at its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. It's open to students and recent graduates from anywhere in the world, and no Japanese is needed.

What it is

  • 4–6 weeks on-site in Tokyo, Monday to Friday, 10:00–19:00
  • Two pathways:
    • Full-Stack: application development (weeks 1–3), DevOps and infrastructure (week 4), and a possible special assignment (weeks 5–6)
    • Front-End: application development training (weeks 1–4) and a DevOps project (week 5)
  • Outstanding interns may receive a full-time job offer in Japan

What's covered

The internship is unpaid, but HENNGE provides support including:

  • Return flights to Japan
  • A monthly subsidy
  • Medical insurance for interns who don't live in Japan
  • A Japanese mobile phone plan with data
  • Pre-arrival support and visa guidance
  • Welcome lunches, monthly tech sessions and cultural events

Who can apply

  • Third-year undergraduates or above, including master's and PhD students. Recent graduates are welcome.
  • Studying or holding a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent internship or bootcamp experience
  • Fluent in English. Japanese is not required.
  • Full-Stack pathway: Python, Go or TypeScript, plus React or Vue
  • Front-End pathway: React or Vue in TypeScript
  • Comfortable with Linux, macOS or other Unix-like systems
  • Interest in open source or tech communities. An interest in building a career in Japan is a big advantage.
  • Meet at least three of HENNGE's optional skills, such as AWS, full-stack development or DevOps

How to apply

  1. Register on HENNGE's site, choose your pathway (Full-Stack or Front-End) and verify your email.
  2. Solve the coding challenge. There's no time limit, and solving time isn't scored.
  3. Upload your CV and cover letter and choose your preferred batch.
  4. Pass an HR interview and an online technical interview.

To try both pathways, you need a separate email address for each coding challenge. You can't switch pathways after you start.

Deadline

There's no fixed deadline. Each batch has limited places, filled first come, first served. Check the batch schedule on HENNGE's page and apply early.

Tips

  • Polish your GitHub. Show real projects using the languages they ask for.
  • Take your time on the coding challenge. Clean, well-tested code matters more than speed.
  • In your cover letter, explain why you're interested in Japan and in HENNGE.
  • HENNGE never charges application fees.
