Hanns Seidel Foundation Scholarships 2027 in Germany for International Students
Updated 17 October 2026
Open
The Hanns Seidel Foundation (Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung) is a German political foundation based in Munich. Through its scholarship programme, it supports talented, socially engaged students and doctoral candidates, including international students at German universities. The money does not have to be repaid.
Important: This is not for students who are still applying from home without a university place. You need to be admitted to or studying at a German university, and you need good German (B2).
What the scholarship gives you
- Students: up to €885 a month, plus a €300 study allowance
- Doctoral candidates: up to €1,650 a month, plus a €100 research allowance
- Seminars on leadership, key skills and intercultural competence
- A lifelong network of scholars and alumni
Amounts are set for each scholar. These are the maximum rates on the foundation's website. Ask the foundation what applies to international students.
