GLOBE Erasmus Mundus Master in Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management 2027

GLOBE, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management, trains the next generation of scientists and managers working on climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem protection. Students study in Spain, Wales, Portugal and Mexico, and the best applicants receive a full EU scholarship.
Deadline: 4 January 2027. Applications for the 3rd edition (2027–2029) opened on 28 September 2026. There's no application fee.

The programme is worth 120 ECTS over two years.
What the scholarship covers
Erasmus Mundus scholarships go to a selection of the top-ranked admitted applicants, and all nationalities can apply. Scholarship holders receive, for the full 24 months:
- All participation (tuition) fees covered
- A monthly stipend of €1,400 for living costs, accommodation and travel
Students who have already held an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship can't receive another.
Self-funded places are also available. According to the programme's cost information (listed for the previous edition), fees are €4,500 a year for students from Erasmus+ programme countries and €9,000 a year for others.
Who can apply
- A bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS (or equivalent) in biology, agriculture, environmental sciences, forestry, earth and environmental geography, natural resources or a related field
- English at B2 level or higher by the Stage 1 deadline, such as IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72 or Cambridge B2 (160)
- Nationals of, or graduates from universities in, majority English-speaking countries (as defined by UK Visas and Immigration) are exempt from the English test
How to apply
Stage 1 (by 4 January 2027): complete the online form with:
- Your personal and academic details
- Your English test details
- A 1–2 minute video introducing yourself and your motivation
- Contact details for two referees
Stage 2 (January–February 2027, shortlisted applicants only): upload:
- Passport valid for the full two years
- Authenticated or apostilled degree certificates
- Transcripts in English
- English test certificate
- Europass CV
- Declaration of veracity
- Postgraduate eligibility certificate
All documents must be in English.
Tips for a strong application
- Make your video count. Be natural, explain why ecology and biodiversity matter to you, and connect them to a real problem in your country.
- Ask your referees early and tell them about the programme.
- Start authenticating your degree certificate now. Apostille and authentication take time if you're shortlisted.
