Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships (Europe)

Updated 3 October 2026

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are master's programmes run by groups of universities in different countries, funded by the European Union. Students study in at least two countries and receive a joint or multiple degree.

What it covers

Scholarship holders usually receive full tuition coverage, a monthly living allowance, and a contribution towards travel and installation costs. The exact amounts are set by the EU and the programme.

Who can apply

Erasmus Mundus scholarships are open to students from anywhere in the world. You generally need:

  • A bachelor's degree, or to be finishing one before the programme starts
  • To meet the academic and language requirements of the specific programme

There is no single central application. Each programme sets its own entry rules, deadlines and documents.

How to apply

  1. Browse the Erasmus Mundus catalogue to find programmes in your field.
  2. Read each programme's website carefully, including its scholarship rules.
  3. Apply directly to each programme. You can usually apply for a scholarship in up to three different programmes in the same year.

Documents you'll need

Requirements vary, but most programmes ask for:

  • CV (often Europass format)
  • Motivation letter
  • Degree certificates and transcripts
  • Two reference letters
  • English test result
  • Passport copy

Tips

Because every programme is different, write a separate motivation letter for each one. Mention specific modules, mobility tracks or partner universities, and explain why that combination fits your goals.
