Cyprus International University Scholarships for International Students in North Cyprus
Updated 23 October 2026
Cyprus International University (CIU) is a private university in Nicosia (Lefkoşa), Northern Cyprus, with many programmes taught in English. It offers tuition scholarships to international students, including an automatic-sounding 50% discount for every international undergraduate.
Location note: CIU is in Northern Cyprus, not Turkey. It uses a Turkish web address and phone code, and most students travel there through Turkey. Northern Cyprus is recognised as a state only by Turkey, so check how your home country recognises the degree before you enrol.
Scholarships at CIU
1. International Student Scholarship: 50%
- All international undergraduate students receive a 50% tuition fee scholarship
2. Academic (merit) Scholarship: 50% to 100%
- For prospective students with strong academic results
- Covers 50% to 100% of tuition, depending on your performance
3. Athletic Scholarship

4. Graduate Scholarship (Master's and PhD)
- For applicants with a bachelor's degree and a CGPA of 3.50 or higher (CIU's page mentions CIU graduates; confirm whether it applies to you)
5. Progression scholarships

What the scholarships do not cover
These are tuition discounts only. You will still pay:
- The rest of your tuition (if your scholarship is less than 100%)
- Accommodation, food and transport
- Health insurance, residence permit and other fees
How to apply
- Choose your programme on CIU's website.
- Apply online as an international student.
- Ask the admissions office which scholarship you qualify for, and get the percentage in writing in your offer letter.
- Confirm the total yearly cost after the scholarship before you pay any deposit.
Tips
- Compare costs: a 50% discount on a high fee can still be expensive.
- Check degree recognition with your country's education ministry, especially for professional fields like medicine, law or engineering.
