Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan is one of China's top research universities, strong in engineering, computer science, medicine and management. Through the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) – Chinese University Program, HUST offers fully funded master's and PhD places to international students.
Opening soon: HUST has not yet published its 2027 graduate guide. Last year, applications ran from 15 October 2025 to 1 March 2026. Expect a similar window, and prepare your documents now.
What the scholarship covers
This is a full scholarship, covering:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation on campus
- A monthly stipend
- Comprehensive medical insurance
Who can apply
- International students of any nationality, in good health
- Master's: a bachelor's degree, under 35
- PhD: a master's degree, under 40
- English (for English-taught programmes): IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80, GRE 310 or equivalent. If your previous degree was taught in English or Chinese, you don't need a certificate.
- Some schools require a supervisor's acceptance letter (check the programme list)

How to apply
- Apply online on the HUST Online Applicant System and upload your academic documents.
- Take the online language test if required, then pay the application fee.
- Academic review: the school reviews your file. If you pass, you receive a Pre-admission Letter.
- Apply on the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CSC portal) using agency number 10487. Upload the Pre-admission Letter and print the application form.
- Upload the remaining documents to the HUST system and wait for the nomination result.
Tips
- Contact a potential supervisor early. A supervisor's support strengthens your application, even where it's optional.
- Prepare your passport, degree certificates, transcripts, study plan, two recommendation letters and a medical (physical examination) form well before the deadline.
- Apply early in the window rather than at the last minute.
